About Chef Wendy:

Born and raised in New Orleans, I grew up around great food!  My Mom, the quintessential homemaker, cooked every day and our home was always filled with friends and family who would come over to enjoy fresh delicious meals.  I credit my Mom for my passion for food and cooking...she taught me to use fresh ingredients - and with a little practice, a delicious meal is easy to achieve.

After college, I left New Orleans and moved to the east coast for a corporate career, which eventually led me to Atlanta.  During this time - away from New Orleans and craving the good food of my childhood - I began to perfect my cooking skills by practicing my Mom's recipes.  As I became more proficient, I began to add my own personal touches and over time, I discovered my passion for good food had translated into a passion for cooking.  I had become a foodie!

Aside from Cajun and Creole inspired dishes, my other food interest is Italian.  My husband and I lived in Emilia Romagna (Northern Italy) for one year and during this time I took the opportunity to learn how to prepare authentic Northern Italian cuisine.  I signed up for serveral culinary classes with an Italian Chef and before long, I was making dishes such as taglietelle al ragu, lasagna vert, and squash risotto. Additionally, I learned how to navigate the fresh produce markets where seasonal varieties reigned supreme and I also became a regular at the local butcher shop.  Living in the land of parmesan, procuitto, balsamico, and tortellini has without a doubt influenced my cooking!

After returning to Atlanta, I decided to give up my corporate career and pursue my true passion - food and cooking!  I completed my training with the Culinary Business Academy of the United States Personal Chef Institute, joined the Atlanta Chapter of the United States Personal Chef Association (USPCA), and lauched my own business - The Foodie's Chef.

I'm always learning new things about food and cooking so when I'm not serving my clients, you'll often find me taking or assisting a class at one of the many cooking schools in Atlanta.

Buon Appetito!
